2011 Halifax Canada Games

The Canada Winter Games are currently taking place here in Nova Scotia.  Back in October, I signed on to be a volunteer, and it has been a fun experience so far!  Although most of my volunteering will take place at Ski Wentworth, I was especially excited to be asked to participate in both the Opening and Closing Ceremonies!

I spent three days in Halifax last week training, and was honored to accompany Team Sask(atchewan) as they entered the Metro Centre during the Athlete’s Parade!

You can click here to find a video of the Opening Ceremonies.

You can see me in my volunteer jacket, walking with the athletes one minute and thirty-five seconds into “Part Two”.  Team Sask is followed by Team Nova Scotia and then some fantastic entertainment!  I had so much fun and am looking forward to taking part in the Closing Ceremonies as well!

Choirs for Comfort

I just received word that “Choirs for Comfort” is a go today, despite the snow!

Choirs for Comfort is a concert in which many of the  local choirs band together to raise funds for a worthwhile cause – this year,  “Doctors Without Borders”.  A free will offering will be taken at the door. For  donations over $10, if you would like receipt for tax purposes, please put your  contribution in an envelope with you name and address – the receipts will  follow.

The concert is taking place at First United Church, Truro at 3:00 p.m. (Corner of Prince & Lorne Streets) and Alex & I are both participating.  We hope to see you there!
