Floors!

It’s March Break in Nova Scotia, so D’Arcy is off this week. Rather than just sit around and relax, we decided to finally take up the carpets in the living room and dining room to see what was underneath.  This has been on our “to do” list since we moved in, and has finally moved up close enough to the top of our priority list!

I called the previous owner of the house yesterday to see what she knew about the condition of the floors underneath.  She couldn’t really remember because they moved here in the 60’s when carpet was in style.  We determined that the current carpet was about 20 years old.

We decided to take the chance and just do it.  Here are some photos from the beginning of the job.  I’ll update until it’s finished!

Gorgeous! The dining room just needs a light sanding, varnish & quarter-round!

And as long as we're doing the dining room, why not the living room too? Moving the pianos ourselves was the worst of the job!

The living room needs slightly more work, but I can't wait to see how it turns out!!

As you can see, we have our work cut out for us and won’t be taking any guests until the weekend.
